ABOUT ME

Personal

Hello, my name is Jillian Trimm. I recently became a mom to my precious daughter, Kenley. This year my husband and I are celebrating 10 years together, 7 of which being married. We have two adorable dogs, Bailey & Dungey. In my spare time, I like spending time with family and friends, watching my husband ride his dirtbike, and reading.

Education

Currently, I am pursuing my master’s degree in Educational Technology Leadership through Lamar University. In 2014, I completed my bachelor’s in Elementary Education EC-6 through the University of Houston-Downtown in December of 2014. Originally, when I started my undergrad degree, I had a focus of psychology. Throughout my first two years, I was drawn to education and to help build positive meaningful relationships with children  and decided that I wanted to become a teacher. During the first few years of my teaching career I was working at a school that had very low moral and sturggled retaining good teachers and leaders. After my second year of teaching I decided that I wanted to be able to help more students and teachers and thought that a leadership degree that would allow me to pursue administration and curriculum/instruction would be the best to help me grow. Since our world is growing so quickly and new opportunities are arising each and every day, I wanted also wanted to make sure that I focused on my own growth, especially with technology. I firmly believe that technology is an amazing asset to our world, but not all students have the access and means to be tech literate, and not just tech dependent. This is very apparent on my campus and throughout my district. I am excited to acquire new skills and be able to share them with my fellow educators.

Employment

I am lucky enought that I have been teaching for five years with the same district. I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in December of 2014, and immediately started teaching third grade Science & Social Studies. The following year I taught third grade Math & Science and won teacher of the year for my campus for 2015-2016. During my second full year, an opportunity to teach first grade opened up and I was so excited to be given the chance to teach Reading. I myself love Reading and I was ecstatic to be able to work with students where they grow the most as readers. During this year, I was fortunate enough to have won teacher of the year at the campus level for 2016-2017. I decided to transfer to another elementary school within the same district in 2017, and have been teaching third grade Math & Science since. During my time at my current school, I have had some amazing opportunities being a part of our district’s Robotics Program, even serving as Interim-Director, being team lead and thrid grade mentor, and being part of numerous campus committees that focus on improving our school and the leraning environment for our students.
